I pity the poor people who are sitting on top. I had a relatively short ride on top, and my back has never been the same. It's really rough going. I was sitting on the tire, as I though that would be better than sitting on the iron bars. The best place is to stand on the back. Then the bouncing doesn't bother you as much.

Esther, In looking at this picture closer, I noticed the knife and holder that the guy on the tire is wearing. It's very similar to the one that Bob gave me. You should mention it to him. The holder is carved out of some type of very lightweight wood. When I left the Philippines, I was asked at the airport if I had any weapons; guns, knives etc. I said no, then remembered the knife Bod gave me. The lady seemed rather alarmed when I told her about the knife, but since it wasn't part of my carry-on, it was ok.
